Day 23: Sunset

I was driving up to SF at sunset. I snapped a couple poorly shot phone pictures while driving (oooh I'm in so much troooouuuble!). So... here are some shots of the tail end of SF rush hour traffic. And the blue tint at the top of my windshield :P

There she goes, over the Pacific.

Day 22: Trees

We didn't leave the house today because Nevan is sick, so I snapped a picture of a fake spider covered sapling that we use for as a Halloween decoration every year. Mwahahaha.

Day 21: Pretty Pattern

My beautiful, slightly decrepit 100ish year old Kohler & Campbell piano (all the manufacturer can tell us from the serial number is that it was manufactured between 1905-1912, but not exactly how old :( ). I play almost every day, when I can. Nevan and I have started playing little duets together with his trumpet, which I find especially satisfying. It needs a lot of love and repair, but even though many keys are out of tune it still plays beautifully.

I am so thankful my mother forced me to suffer through 8+ years of piano lessons. Music is the gift that keeps giving.

Day 19 & 20

Day 19: Where I Slept

I often sleep with Nevan in his bed because he begs me to, and last night was no different. He's so snuggly.

Day 20: What I Read
I mostly read books on the Kindle app on my phone. Right now I'm reading The Disappearing Spoon and Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World From the Periodic Table of the Elements by Sam Kean. Here is a screen shot from my phone of where I am right now in the book. Yeah, I know. I read dorky stuff. I'm also reading The Rape of Europa right now, so you can see exactly how dorky I am. I like non-fiction :)

Day 18: In My Bag

Pretty much what you would expect from me. A mess, some playfulness, make-up, and somehow a bunch of coins from other countries that keep popping up. I think there may be a hole in the lining of my purse :P I don't mind finding them though, as they make me nostalgic.

Day 17: On The Shelf

I have a lot of craft books, but my Japanese ones are most precious to me. I remember where I got each one, and that rush I get from thinking about new projects. Luckily, we have a Kinokuniya nearby (Japanese bookstore chain) so I can keep buying them!!!

Day 16: What I Ate

About once a week or so I stop by my favorite little hole in the wall type Vietnamese store for a #20 - Banh Mi Op La (aka Sunny Side Up Fried Egg Vietnamese Sandwich). They make a delicious one, and for $2.50 it just can't be beat. Fried egg, mayo, flash pickled vegetables, and fresh jalapenos and cilantro on a fresh french roll. That shit is delicious. When I lived overseas, I daydreamed of being able to pop in to Dakao for one of these. Mouth-wateringly mmmmm.

Good thing I didn't delete this blog...

... because my other blog is having comment issues. Boo on Apple. My last post on my new blog was for Day 15: My Shoes. Here it is:

There are a few things I will never “grow out” of: Nirvana and Skinny Puppy, holey jeans, plaid, mid-century home decor, and these... my T.U.K. creepers.

Meet Frank. Yes, I had named them Frank (short for Frankenstein, as they reminded me of Frankenstein’s platform shoes. Actual origin story found here). At the time, it was next to impossible to find them in a store, so they are one of my first internet purchases. I bought these right out of high school, and they have been everywhere and done everything with me (same goes for my 20 eye Docs from the same era, but those are in storage so not photographable at the moment). I love creeper styling and it so embodied my style at the time... clean and a little dressed up compared to boots, but weird. Also, it didn’t hurt that they add a few inches to my 5’ 2” height.

I don’t wear Frank anymore because my feet have changed from pregnancy, and because I seriously need to lose some weight to pull them off. However, in recent years T.U.K. has come out with creeper style sneakers, and I will be picking up a pair of those sometime soon.
