Challenge Day 2: Taxi

Our car is in the shop at the moment, so I taxi'ed it over with Nevan to his school this morning. I took two pictures and he refused to smile in either of them. He even promised me in the second photo he'd smile but then didn't, leaving me to smile all by myself while he has a reluctant half smile. Little sucka butt!

Also, I swear to god his hair doesn't typically look like Lurch as much as it does here. I don't know what is going on there.

Lastly, I'd like to thank Kristin for the hat inspiration this morning. I never wear this hat, although it is my favorite. It makes me feel really paranoid for some reason, but I braved it this morning because I want to be like K!

Oh well. Maybe next time.

Challenge Day 1: Home

The challenge is to take a photo of yourself in a completely different location every day, Monday through Friday of this week.

I took an extremely blurry photo of Dave and I in the kitchen. Exciting location, don't I know it! Then again, you can't see the background. My bad.

Spring Evening At Home

I kept forgetting to take my camera with me when I went out :( The only thing I could think of was to see what I could take off of our balcony. Sorry for the boring photos... it's all I could do! It was strangely overcast and evenly lit, so everything came out kind of blue green, even when I adjusted the color.

Spring is on its way here in Australia:

Miniature Solar Panels

Sometimes it's not the photo, but the way you look at it.

Nature is far more advanced than our own technology. Thinking about the millions of years it took for nature to come up with this perfect invention reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, courtesy of Carl Sagan (click for more awesome Sagan quotes):

"If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe."

Gift

One of the gifts my team gave me for my going away was a pair of really nice pj's. Totally random sounding gift, I know, but two of the lovely ladies on my team picked it out and managed to find one of my favorite shades of purple - violet. I adore my new jammies, and I will think of today, my last day at work, every time I wear them.

Special thanks to CR and Tina and Susan for picking out my new favorite pj's! I may even wear them out... that's how much I likey!

An Afternoon In Mosman

We spent our afternoon in Mosman today, having lunch at a little modern deli, some gelato, then off to a tiny little reclusive beach for a long stretch of playing and snacks. I remembered the camera! Yay! I'm not getting off to as bad a start as I thought I might.

One hilarious thing that happened was that when we were ready to go, I stripped Nevan naked to put dry, unsandy clothes on. Around the corner of the beach was a really fancy restaurant. Nevan laughed hysterically then booked it around the corner, me chasing after him with a towel, as nude as the day he was born in front of at least 30 people eating expensive food. Oh well, I guess it was lunch and a free show for them!

Thanks to Cathy for the awesome Olympics baseball cap ;)

I am never allowing him to have that big a scoop on that small a cone again. It's a recipe for disaster.

At the park

Hmmm, I wonder how many entries over the next year will have the same title? HEHE

Ready for action!

What was shading me as I sat in the grass reading while Nevan hung from the playground structure upside down, perfectly poised for cracking his skull open. Bad mommy!

Are you pulling my strings?

From ABCs

Why yes, yes I did walk around my house muttering "what the hell can I take a picture of for my damn blog?!". Why do you ask?

Meet my Indonesian puppet. Hey, at least I made the effort to screw around with it with a image program.

The Why

This broad I know suggested to the rest of us broads that we ought to take a photo a day for an entire year and base a blog around this. And we may even occasionally create a theme or challenge. Actually it would have been kind of cute if we had a group blog and all posted a photo under the same day entry... crap, I wish I had thought of that earlier.

Anyways, for whatever reason I decided I'd jump on the bandwagon, so I've created this blog for that daily photo here. I guess that means I need to upload my first photo to kick off what will likely end up with me cursing Cathy's name on a daily basis. Let the fun begin!
